Church of the Highlands

Connect Area

Not an info booth — the first real conversation a guest has with this church. Think concierge, not information desk.

Campus playbook · for every teammate at the table

Why we're here

Relational, not informational.

For years the front team answered questions. The Connect Area is a shift: learn a name and a story, put a face to the texts we've already sent, and make sure every guest leaves with one clear next step.

01

Relational, not informational

Learn a name and a story. Don't just hand out info.

02

Digital to human

They may have already heard from us by text. Your job is to make that a face.

03

Remove the barriers

Every guest leaves with one clear next step.

Use this at the table

The conversation — four moves.

Receive expected guests, engage first-time guests warmly, and be ready to pray for anyone who needs it.

1

Learn their name

Say their name 2–3 times in the conversation.

2

Get their story

Where are they from, what brought them in today?

3

Ask open questions

Questions that can't be answered with just yes or no.

4

Guide one next step

Point them to a single, clear next step — below.

The next step — pick one

Don't overwhelm them. Choose the one that fits where they are today.

How the week runs

The weekly flow.

A little prep before Sunday means we can greet returning guests by name.

Before Sun

Prep the names

  • Small Groups Director invites guests to the Connect Area.
  • SGD informs the Dream Team Director.
  • DTD briefs the Coach so the team knows who to expect by name.
  • Saturday SMS goes out to first-time guests inviting them back.
During

Work the table

  • A teammate is present at the Connect Area every service.
  • Receive expected guests; engage first-timers warmly.
  • Be available to pray for anyone who needs it.
  • Run the four conversation moves.
Close

Close & follow up

  • Log the conversation (see below).
  • If they came from last week's list, celebrate that they came back.
First-time guest flow: Guest fills out connection card → Small Groups Director receives it & invites to Connect Area → relays to Dream Team Director → team is prepped with names → guest returns Sunday → team greets by name → guest receives their journal.

Don't skip this

Log every conversation.
